Mid-19th century mahogany cased domestic regulator, Bain & Son - Breckin, the hood with carved and applied C-scroll and foliate decoration over half turned columns to a moulded throat and long glazed door with canted corners on a panelled base with applied plinth and bracket feet to a signed and silvered 33cm (13ins) engraved and silvered dial with shaped top, set with a strike/silent subsidiary and with engraved fruiting vine and floral spandrels to a Roman chapter with outside minute track enclosing subsidiary seconds and date with black finished hands to a twin weight driven movement with plates united by four stepped pillars with maintaining power and anchor escapement with strike on a coiled gong with two cylindrical brass cased weights and further cylindrical pendulum with wooden stem, height 224cmCondition Report:Case – Small splits to hood door at top. 2X vertical splits on plinth. General age-relatedwear.Dial – Light discolouration to dial.MVT – Appears complete and original. Suspension on pendulum is ‘As found’.
