This tripod censer is finely made with a globular body enamelled with the Eight Buddhist Auspicious Motifs, or ‘Babao’. On the body, the stylized lotus flowers and the highly decorative tendrils stretch to the legs, with upright handles. The interior is enamelled in turquoise. With an imperial Jiaqing mark and of the period inscribed on the outer rim of the mouth. This shape of censer is traditionally used together with a group of vessels at Buddhist and Taoist worship ceremonies.此香爐圓鼓腹，三獸足，肩腹左右堆貼飄帶狀長耳一。爐體內外施釉，其內松石綠釉，其外珊瑚紅地粉彩繪飾。口平沿， 紅、藍彩料繪三角幾何紋飾與花紋間隔，口沿外壁黃綠回紋一周，中書“大清嘉慶年制”六字礬紅篆書款。香爐頸 部繪纏枝花卉紋飾，肩部繪如意紋，腹部繪纏枝蓮紋六吉祥紋。 此式香爐爲清代佛教或道教祭祀中的典型器具，爲五供之一。道教典籍稱香可上通三境十天，下徹九幽五道。是故 五供爲一體，象征香火永旺，吉祥圓滿。嘉慶粉彩蓮托八吉祥紋香爐多見以白釉、黃釉、松石綠釉等作爲色地，以 胭脂紅釉爲地的則較爲少見。胭脂紅釉是清代官窯中的名貴品種，它以金作爲呈色劑，又稱“金紅”。 文献:北京故宮博物院陶瓷資料室藏有一件同樣爲胭脂紅地的乾隆紅地粉彩香爐，造型、紋飾與該作品相同。
