Description

A Chinese calligraphy in ink on paper by Wu Jinheng with a dedication to Pu Sheng. The calligraphy has 2 seals, and it is mounted on a silk backing with silk dowels on gold and silver flecked paper. Dimensions are: 50 inches tall X 13 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The calligraphy has severe creasing and the backing is torn. Provenance: From the estate of Yang Pusheng (1879-1949). Yang Pusheng was the founder and principal of the Huzhou Luhu School, as well as the founder of the Central Committee of Tongmenghui, a leader of Guangfu Shanghai, an outstanding political activist in the Xinhai period, and a revolutionary patriot. Both Yang Peiyu and Wu Changshuo are Huzhou fellows and live in Shanghai, enjoying a close, fraternal relationship.來自楊譜苼先生後人。楊譜笙(1879~1949)是湖州旅滬公學的創始人兼校長,陳其美先生革命活動的積極支持者,同盟會中部總會的創始人,光復上海的領導人之一,是辛亥時期傑出的政治活動家,更是一位愛國革命志士。楊譜笙是上海同盟會創始人陳其美的表叔,和陳其美一起領導了光復上海的活動。楊譜笙和吳昌碩為湖州老鄉,並且同在上海寓居,交往甚密,吳昌碩稱其為五哥。 High resolution images can be found at: https://file.ac/bX0kel_FwXQ/
