A QAJAR GOLD-DAMASCENED AND SILVER-INLAID STEEL HELMET (KHULA KHUD), SHIELD (DHAL) AND ARMGUARD (BAZUBAND).Iran, 19th century.Each of typical form, heavily inlaid and decorated with intricate floral and calligraphic cartouches, the background a triumph of vegetal and floral tendrils, the helmet with aigrette holders, shaped mail skirt and noseguard, the rosette bouquet in the cartouches matching the decoration on the armguard, the shield with four bosses and similar floral decorations, missing the leather straps on reverse, the helmet 21cm diam., the shield 45cm diam., and the armguard 34cm high.
