A Chinese Huanghuali wood scholar's box with 5 drawers dating from the 18th to 19th centuries. The 2 front doors are carved with 4 dragons in the corners and a central dragon in a quatrefoil frame with the wave and rock motif. Dimensions are: 13 1/2 inches tall X 13 inches wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The drawer pulls have been replaced, the box has numerous cracks due to dryness, the hinges are loose, and there is some staining to the lid.
