|箱作长方体，通体以黄花梨板材攒装制成，其板材平整，纹理清晰美观，攒装燕尾榫结构牢靠，结构方正，铜面页包浆郁实，通体散溢着浓郁的书香风韵。黄花梨是我国明代宫廷家具主要制作材料，其结构稳定，不翘不裂，纹理美观，是“明式家具”重要的物质基础，深受皇室及重臣的喜爱。书箱为官员赴任或巡视期间携带书籍典册之藏储器，一般形体较小，可置于轿厢两侧方便查阅，有的则带有提手，以便携带搬移。此件书箱板材均黄花梨整木刨制，用材不吝，形体较大，箱面边缘及上下企口均起有阳线，线条挺拔，当非一般官员所用。其面页铜活通体积垢深厚，老气横陈，当经数百年积淀始成，当属明代书箱之佳品。
