宗喀巴大师（1357-1419）自幼聪慧非凡，在学问修持等方面都具有极高成就，为藏传佛教格鲁派的创始人，被藏族僧俗尊称为“第二佛陀”。大师头蓄短发，面相丰圆，双目微阖，鼻梁挺直，嘴带笑意，展现出大师所具的非凡智慧。上身内着僧坎，外披袈裟，双手与胸前结说法印，两肩饰有宝剑和经书，象征大师为文殊菩萨在人间的化现。下身着僧裙，质地飘逸，褶皱自然，双腿结跏趺坐姿，下承仰覆莲座。整像造型规整，尺度严谨，既遵循了造像量度的规范，又表现出上师的庄严法相，无疑是清代雕塑大师的精心之作，堪称是内地上师造像的杰出作品。
