Description: 1st-2nd century AD. A bronze vessel handle with rim attachment and projecting finial ornament for thumb rest; arching handle with engraved acanthus pattern ending in an escutcheon plate at the base in the form of the head of a satyr; a youthful face with pointed, upright ears, wavy hair decorated with ivy leaves, horns projecting from above the forehead and a fawn skin tied below the chin. 620 grams, 21.8cm (8 1/2"). Property of a European gentleman; formerly acquired on the German art market before 1980. Condition Report: Very fine condition.
