作者简介：萧愻(1883-1944)，字谦中，善画山水，取法宋元，不为清代作风所囿，实当代画家之杰出者，所见宋元明真迹既多，遂精于鉴别。早年从师姜筠学习山水画，成绩显著。画山水学其师，并为师代笔。后出游西南、东北名胜，行万里路，开阔艺术视野。1921年重返北京，广泛涉猎历代名家作品，深得传统艺术精华，尤醉心石涛、龚贤、梅清。1920年与周肇祥、金城、陈师曾等人发起成立中国画学研究会。曾任教于北京美术专科学校及中国画学研究会。萧氏初从临“四王”山水起步，后涉宋元诸家，受明清之际黄山画派影响较大。
