作者简介：贺天健（1891-1977），原名贺骏，又名贺炳南，字健叟，别号纫香居士，斋名开天楼、达屋。江苏无锡人，久居上海。广学清代诸名家而上溯至宋元各家，主张“师法五代两宋山水画法度与精神”，又主张师造化，游历山川广为写生。研习传统，对画论画史着力尤深。贺天健精研山水画，传统功力深厚，法度严谨而不失跌宕雄奇，出入传统画法，颇得“宋人格律，元人笔意”，而能自创新境，不拘古人窠臼。画风雄健深厚，善用水墨，设色讲究且善用复色，寓古法于现实风景之中，为山水画开创了新天地，在山水画坛自成一家。
