作者简介：吴湖帆(1894-1968)，初名翼燕，字遹骏，后更名万，字东庄，又名倩，别署丑簃，号倩庵，书画署名湖帆，江苏苏州人。早年与溥儒被称为“南吴北溥”，后与吴子深、吴待秋、冯超然、在画坛有“三吴一冯”之称。作为鉴定家，他与收藏大家钱镜塘同称“鉴定双璧”。作为一位集绘画、鉴赏、收藏于一身的显赫人物，他的成就是多方面的，可以说代表了中国绘画史上的一种现象。山水从“四王”、董其昌上溯宋元各家，冲破南北宗壁障，以雅腴灵秀、缜丽清逸的复合画风独树一帜，尤以熔水墨洪染与青绿设色于一炉并多烟云者最具代表性，并工写竹、兰、荷花。他在中国绘画史上的意义其实已远超出他作为一名山水画家的意义。
