Description

香筒以竹制成，皮壳呈琥珀色泽，葆光莹润。以浮雕、透雕、阴刻等技法通景雕琢，以元代剧本《崔莺莺待月西厢记》为题，雕刻“惠明寄书”这一桥段。画面虬髯古松下，莺莺、红娘和夫人以酒相别惠明和尚，女子们高梳雾鬓，轻纱素衣，仪态温婉秀美；惠明和尚手持念珠，伏倚蟠曲古松之干，一片大义之心，忠实于原著剧情，将文学与艺术完美的结合，令人赏心悦目，是较为少见的题材。此件香筒奏刀深峻，一气呵成，洼隆浅深，镂透纵深，层可五六，人物陈设精细工密，颇见吴之璠竹刻艺术精髓。
