题识：白阳山人道复。|钤印：白阳山人、陈氏道复|藏印：齐东野人、曼生鉴藏书画|谷牧题签条：白阳山人作牡丹。 |陈淳（1484-1543），陈道复，长洲（今江苏吴县）人，初名淳，字道复，后以字行，改字复甫，号白阳山人，明代画家，诸生。尝从文征明学书画，工写意花卉，亦画山水，书工行草。后人以其与徐渭并称为青藤、白阳。||按语：陈道复天才秀发，中年之后，笔墨放纵，与青藤并称。其所作中以牡丹为主题者有多件，多以墨笔或淡设色写成，此作以双勾写花，勾花点叶，用线用墨，自成一格，充分展示其状物造型以及灵活运用水墨方面之高超技艺。
