此件宝冠正面铸云龙纹，纹饰精细灵活，有高浮雕的效果。龙纹采用错金装饰，尊贵威严，更显王者风范。 错金银工艺是中国古代汉族金属细工装饰技法之一，包括镶嵌和错两种技术，镶是把东西嵌进去或是在外围加边，嵌是把东西镶在空隙里，“错”即用厝石加以磨错使之光平。这种工艺最早始见于商周时代的青铜器，解决了在坚硬金属上难以镶嵌装饰的局限，其艺术特征是用隐嵌的技法形成金银线图案或文字，改变模铸纹饰的呆板和拘束，突破传统的图形对称形式。由于铁错金是一种难度较高的工艺，需要耗费大量的人工，故只有王侯才可能使用，因此现存实物尤为珍贵。
