玉瓶通体浮雕，盖上有宝珠钮，圆形扁腹，双面雕琢荷塘清趣纹饰，荷莲野鸭写实刻画，一派生机。此玉瓶最具特色的是双耳的形制，两侧镂雕童子持莲耳，左右对称，童子手持一束莲花置于头顶，双脚微微弯曲，似在发力，动态捕捉非常生动，极富装饰效果。此类童子持莲双耳在古代玉雕中极为少见，值得关注。 持莲童子为玉童子中的经典品种，是一个经久不衰极富有生命力的艺术题材。早在唐代时，器物中已有荷莲童子图案，宋以后，这类玉雕童子渐多，作品有“连生贵子”的含义，寓意吉祥。
