明清时期，由于皇室对西藏及藏传佛教的重视，许多具有西藏民族特色的器物也开始进入宫廷，多穆壶即是一例。此件多穆壶，失盖通体施以洒蓝釉，釉上有描金。清宫对藏传佛教兴趣极浓，故有各种材质的多穆壶应运而生。参阅：《故宫博物院藏文物珍品大系——单色釉》，杨静荣主编，上海科学技术出版社、商务印书馆（香港），1999年，第88页，图81。
