因薄胎器皿对玉料要求较高，稍有瑕疵即毕现无疑，故白玉质的薄胎器皿较为少见，多以青玉为材。而此薄胎瓶则以和田玉籽料为材，胎壁薄若纸，隔胎壁可见手之指纹，足可见其玉质之细腻，尤为难得。玉瓶盖以宝珠为钮，并饰以蕉叶纹，瓶盖上饰以西番莲纹一周。瓶口稍外撇，束颈饰以镂空雕花卉纹双耳，肩部饰以回纹一周，瓶身满饰西番莲缠枝纹，花叶疏密有致，虽见枝蔓层层缠绕却毫无凌乱繁缛之感，予人一种端庄凝重的美感，与薄胎相衬，更显工艺之精湛。秀美挺拔的造型与灵空优美的西番莲纹相衬，在整体视觉效果上达到均衡虚实之感，使得器形稳重而不失秀美，本品无论选材、纹饰、雕工、意蕴，均堪称上乘之作。
